Youth Guarantee Scheme 2013

Tai Poutini Polytechnic will again offer a number of fully funded Youth Guarantee places on selected programmes at several campuses in 2013. Young people who intend to enrol in these programmes are invited to apply for a Youth Guarantee place.

What is Youth Guarantee?

The Youth Guarantee Scheme is for young school leavers who want to move into tertiary study to gain a Level 1-3 qualification. The scheme plays a significant role in contributing to the Government’s aim of increasing the number of 18 year olds achieving a Level 2 qualification.

Youth Guarantee students pay no programme fee and receive ongoing learning, cultural and emotional support to assist them through their study programme.

Who is eligible?

You may apply for a Youth Guarantee place if you
  • Have left school, with or without qualifications
  • Are aged 16 or 17 years
  • Are a teen parent aged under 19 years, and referred by MSD
  • Commit to gaining a qualification at Level 1, 2 or 3**
  • Agree not to apply for a Student Loan, as fees will be paid for through a Youth Guarantee scholarship

** Priority will be given to students studying towards a qualification that is a level higher than any qualification they already hold.
