Diploma in Music and Event Management

The Diploma in Music and Event Management has been developed to ensure that the increasing sophistication of the music industry, from a performance perspective, is matched by effective management. The creative industries are out-performing some of the more traditional sectors of the economy, and this programme provides students with the opportunity to develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to gain employment as entry-level managers in the music industry.

The Diploma is a 34-week programme, with a music industry focus that balances theoretical and practical content. There is a strong emphasis on preparing students for employment or self-employment by tutors who are ‘real world’ practitioners, and regular guests who are well known figures from the industry.

Students also have the opportunity to work closely with MAINZ Live Sound and Contemporary Music students on live performances and events, gain work-based training, organise their own events and manage artists.

Event Management students have the option to purchase their own laptop and take advantage of the wireless network that operates in the MAINZ campus. This can be used to build a portfolio of valuable resources to take with them when they graduate.
